Pepe Oriola will return to the World Touring Car Championship in 2014 for the final three events of the season in Asia, racing a TC2-spec SEAT León for Campos Racing.
Spaniard Oriola has been a regular in the WTCC over the past three seasons, competing in 72 races and securing one win and six podium finishes in the process.
Oriola will return to the championship at the wheel of a SEAT León in which he made 60 of his WTCC race starts. The 19-year-old’s first event will be at the Chinese event in Shanghai in October.
“Despite [the fact] I had many offers on my desk, I did not want to leave WTCC,” admitted Oriola. “With Campos racing I have the opportunity to remain active in the championship, bringing my experience to the team and its drivers.”
Until Oriola makes his return to the cockpit he will be offering advice to Campos Racing drivers Hugo Valente and Dušan Borković in the TC1 category, John Filippi in the TC2 category and Igor Skuz and Nikolay Karamyshev in the FIA European Touring Car Cup.
