Campos Racing’s Fernando Monje will not race in the World Touring Car Championship season finale in Macau, citing family reasons for his absence from the grid.
We have been able to carry out our plan to compete in 22 rounds and their corresponding training sessions, getting to know circuits all around the world and, above all, learning a lot,” said Monje, 20.
However despite missing the final meeting of the year, Monje says that the intention is still to return to the series in 2014.
“2014 will be the time to apply all of these lessons and go all out for the Independents title,” added the Spaniard, who scored one of only three points finishes so far in the WTCC at the Circuito da Guia in 2012.
Monje has scored a best result of tenth on three seperate occasions in his 34 races so far in the WTCC, since making his début in Spain in 2012.
Monje’s absence means that Hugo Valente will be the only Campos Racing representative, unless a last-minute substitute is found.
Elsewhere, China Dragon Racing have announced that Lam Kam San will be at the wheel of a second Chevrolet Lacettit entered by the team. The Macanese driver, who is making his WTCC début, has previously won the Road Sport Class of the Macau Touring Car Championship in 2010.
