Rob Huff heads into his final event with the ALL-INKL.com Münnich Motorsport team looking to add to his tally of victories around the streets of Macau, having taken five victories at the circuit in previous years.
The British driver is considered to be a Macau specialist – he has the most wins of any driver on the grid around the 6.2km Guia circuit plus he set a new qualifying lap record in his title winning year last year.
“I always look forward to returning to Macau and I adore the Circuito da Guia,” the 33 year old said. “It can never be underestimated – it’s mega! The walls are never far away and the weather is known for being unpredictable so there’s little margin for error; you need your wits about you and it’s all about precision. I’m sure my little SEAT will be strong there.”
The circuit is making its ninth consecutive appearance on the WTCC calendar – next year it will be the only circuit to have featured in every edition of the WTCC – and this weekend’s running marks the 60th anniversary of the first Guia Grand Prix.
Macau marks Huff’s final outing in the ALL-INKL.com Münnich Motorsport SEAT León before moving to LADA for the 2014 campaign, and he is hoping to finish on a high, both in terms of results and in the Championship.
“I’m really proud of my record in Macau and it would be mega to bolster that with more race wins this year, particularly as this will be my last appearance for ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport in the WTCC,” said Huff.
“I’d love to thank the team for the hard work it has put it over the course of the season with more silverware, although getting on the podium wouldn’t exactly harm my final championship position either,” he concluded.
