Andrew Jordan and the Pirtek Racing outfit head to Brands Hatch with one hand on the 2013 British Touring Car Championship drivers’ title after a trio of top six finishes at Silverstone.
Jordan, the only driver to have scored a point in every race this season – the last time he failed to score was the first race at Silverstone last year – holds a 34 point advantage heading into the final three races of the season.
Having extended his advantage by four points at Silverstone – a circuit which the Honda’s were expected to struggle at – Jordan knows that his maiden BTCC drivers’ title is within his grasp. He all but secured the independents’ title for 2013 at the home of British Motorsport, as he opened up a 57 point lead over Colin Turkington.
His tally of six race victories makes him the joint most successful driver in 2013 alongside fellow Championship rival Jason Plato, and the MG driver is one of five drivers in the hunt for the title.
The other three contenders are all former Champions and have 5 titles between them, with Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden challenging in their Honda Yuasa Racing Honda Civics while his nearest rival in the Independents Championship, eBay Motors Turkington is fourth overall.
“It’s brilliant to have extended the championship lead to 34 points after Silverstone,” said Andrew.
“The car will be quick at Brands and I’ll be quick there. But we need to be sensible, especially in the first race. We need to finish the first race and then try and wrap up the title as soon as possible. It will be a strong circuit for us, but anything can happen. Up to this point we’ve done everything we can and hopefully that will continue at Brands,” he concluded.
