Andrew Jordan has admitted that ‘a lot can happen’ as the 2013 British Touring Car Championship heads into its home straight, starting at Rockingham.
Jordan, who took his fourth victory of the season last time out at Knockhill to close to within six points of Championship leader Matt Neal is looking to add to his 21 race run of points finishes.
The Pirtek Racing driver bounced back from a six place grid penalty in Scotland to record a fourth victory in the reverse grid race and looking ahead to the trip to Northamptonshire, Jordan reckons the Rockingham Motor Speedway will suit his Honda Civic.
“A lot can happen over the final nine races,” says Andrew. “I’m the only driver to have finished in the points at every race and we’ve had a podium at every race meeting so far this year.
Arriving at Rockingham second in the Championship means that Jordan will carry second place ballast into qualifying and the opening race of the weekend.
“We’ll take 36kg of success ballast to Rockingham, but that is almost our base weight these days as we’ve had that pretty much all year,” he added. “I think a lot of the fast corners will really suit us, so I think we’ll go really well. I like some of the corners at Rockingham. It’s about finding that balance between pushing hard and scoring points all the time.”
As well as challenging for the outright crown, Jordan is 38 points clear of his nearest rival in the Independent drivers’ Championship while Pirtek Racing sit 3rd overall in the HiQ Teams’ Championship and lead the Independent Teams’ by 30 points.
