Turkington and third-placed man Austin were once again quick off the line, with Shedden in second place quickly moving over to try to cut off Austin’s line, although the Audi driver was able to squeeze by down into turn one.
The race ran uninterrupted this time, with Turkington coming home 1.821s ahead of Austin who himself was nearly three seconds ahead of Shedden.
As Turkington quickly broke at the front of the pack, a large queue began to form behind Austin as he worked to get his tyres up to temperature. Despite the queue, Austin was faced with little in the way of a serious challenge to his second place, and eventually pulled clear to a lonely but pleasing second place – matching his best result to date in the series.
Shedden followed him home to third with Rob Collard securing his best result of the season just behind the Scotsman in fourth, after another charge. They finished three seconds clear of the battling pair of Matt Neal and Andrew Jordan, who once again fought to the finish with Neal again coming out on top.
Jason Plato slipped down the order having started fourth, with Neal and Jordan mugging him at the hairpin and on the run down to turn one on lap 15. He eventually finished ahead of his teammate Tordoff, Mat Jackson and Dave Newsham who rounded out the top ten.
There was a thrilling battle for victory in the Jack Sears Trophy, with Liam Griffin once again prevailing over Lea Wood after a race long battle that saw the pair racing with the NGTC cars of Warren Scott and Mike Bushell. Aiden Moffat ended his second BTCC outing stuck in the gravel trap, after the left front wheel of his car broke.
