Rob Huff is swapping his ALL-INKL.com Münnich Motorsport SEAT Leon for a 1965 Austin Mini Cooper S at the Silverstone Classic this weekend.
The 2012 World Touring Car Champion is currently fourth in the 2013 Championship and is looking to repeat his victory from the Brands Hatch Historic Masters Festival with team-mate Des Smail.
“The weekend might be a decent shakedown for the Goodwood Revival in September, but having taken the Mini to an unexpected victory at Brands Hatch, the pressure is on to repeat that result at Silverstone!” said Huff.
Entering its 23rd year, the three day Silverstone Classic showcases a full spectrum of Motorsport History with packed out grids over the 24 races held on the Grand Prix circuit. In addition to the races, there are world record commemorative parades, classic car displays and music concerts.
Huff and the Mini will compete in the newly created Trans-Atlantic Touring Car Races, which means that plucky British cars such as the Austin Mini and Lotus Cortina will be up against V8 American muscle cars.
“Silverstone Classic has developed into an incredible event in recent years, with star-studded capacity grids competing in an action-packed programme of racing and masses of off-track entertainment,” adds Huff.
“The Classic is another great way to socialise with some true motorsport enthusiasts and it will be a thrill to race the Mini Cooper S – a British icon – in the Trans-Atlantic Touring Car race on Saturday (27 July).”
After racing the Mini at Silverstone, Huff will then prepare for the resumption of the 2013 World Touring Car Championship, with rounds 15 and 16 taking place at the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo in Argentina over the 3rd/4th August.
