Rob Collard was fastest in a rain-affected second British Touring Car Championship free practice session at Croft, as Adam Morgan caused the session to be ended early after crashing at turn one.

Morgan’s Toyota Avensis speared straight on at the first turn, hitting the barriers head-on and causing a red flag. The session was later abandoned after repair work was required to the barriers.
“On the way to the first corner I touched the brakes and the fronts just locked up and I stalled the engine,” said Morgan to TouringCars.Net. “No matter how many times I pressed the brake pedal they weren’t going to unlock. Luckily I went in dead straight so the damage isn’t too substantial. The car is back together so we should be out for qualifying.”
Collard post a time of 1:29.075 to top the session in the first half, before a delgue of rain spelled an end to any top times later in the session. With conditions proving to be extremely changeable, almost 14 seconds seperated the drivers in first and 15th.
Mat Jackson was second fastest for Airwaves Racing, albeit 2.8 seconds adrift of Collard as times were rendered effectively redundant by the conditions.
Rob Austin and Will Bratt were third and fourth fastest respectively for WIX Racing, whilst Collard’s eBay Motors team-mate Nick Foster completed the top five, some 4.4 seconds slower.
Qualifying takes place at 15:10 BST (16:10 CEST).
