Audi Sport Team Phoenix drivers Miguel Molina and Mike Rockenfeller head to the Spielberg in Austria looking forward to the third round of the 2013 DTM season.
German racer Rockenfeller arrives at the Austrian circuit leading the 2013 DTM drivers’ standings for the first time in his DTM career after taking victory during the second round of the campaign at Brands Hatch.
With the DRS and option tyres introduced for the 2013 campaign, the 29 year old believes that this year’s race will be even more action filled than the 2012 race.
“Spielberg is a very nice track that I’m really looking forward to,” explains Rockenfeller. “Last year, we had a thrilling race there with many overtaking manoeuvres. Now, with the DRS and the option tires, there’ll probably be even more action.
“Obviously, after the success at Brands Hatch, I can hardly wait to go out again and battle for the next victory.”
Team-mate Molina heads to Spielberg promoting the German Cup Final between FC Bayern München and Vfb Stuttgart on the #20 Audi Sport Team Phoenix Audi RS5 DTM car.
The 24 year old just missed out on opening his points’ scoring account for the 2013 campaign last time out at Brands Hatch, having finished half a second off 10th in 11th.
“I really like the Red Bull Ring,” explains the Spanish racer.
“We’re improving from race to race and have to keep up our efforts of working hard on our performance. Edo (Mortara) showed what’s possible last year. I’m looking forward to the race.”
Ernst Moser is hoping that Rockenfeller can repeat his victory from Brands Hatch and secure a third Audi win in three years at the Spielberg circuit and thus keep themselves in contention for the Championship.
“Last year, Edoardo (Mortara) won,” explains the Team Director from Audi Sport Team Phoenix. “Of course we’d like to repeat this Audi success from last year – albeit preferably with ‘Rocky’ so that we can continue to be in contention as front runners in the Championship.”
