Rob Huff heads into rounds seven and eight of the 2013 World Touring Car Championship looking to build on his performance in Slovakia where he was in contention for a podium finish.
The Brit, who is yet to visit the podium since joining the ALL-INKL.com Münnich Motorsport team for his title defence enjoyed a race long battle with former title rivals Yvan Muller and Gabriele Tarquini and eventually finished fourth and arriving in Hungary, he now feels that he has the car to challenge at the front of the field.
“I think my ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport team turned a corner with the SEAT Leon in Slovakia, as I really felt at home in the car for the first time this season,” said Huff.
“I was slightly disappointed to miss out on the podium last weekend, but feel I have a great shot in Hungary. All I need is a clear run at the Chevrolets and Hondas and I think we’ll be in the running for a place on the winners’ rostrum.
The circuit is set in a natural amphitheatre and with 50,000 Hungarians cheering on their hero and the circuit configuration means that two close races are expected and Huff is hoping to change a stat this year.
Huff is yet to win a WTCC race at the Hungaroring – it is the only circuit which has previously featured on the calendar which the Newmarket racer hasn’t taken the chequered flag first.
“Of course, race wins would be mega, although I think we have a more realistic chance of finishing in the top three. But whatever happens, you can guarantee that both the atmosphere and the racing will be electric!” Huff concluded.
