“An important success for us”: Münnich

The ALL-INKL.com Münnich Motorsport team left Hungary celebrating their maiden win in the World Touring Car Championship after Rob Huff secured victory in the second race at the Hungaroring.

Having lined up third on the grid for the second race of the weekend, Huff moved into second off the start and then took the lead around the outside of the first corner on the first lap after the Safety car.

Once in the lead, the 2012 Champion never looked back despite the pressure from behind and he secured his first victory since Shanghai 2012 and the first for the team in only their 8th WTCC race start.

“Today I am almost as happy as I was at the win of the championship last year in Macau,” explained Huff, who is third in the driver standings having taken a 4th place finish in the opening race at the Hungaroring.

He joked after the victory: “Not bad for an old boy!”

“To already get the first position on the podium as a newcomer team is just sensational,” explained ALL-INKL.com Münnich Motorsport Team Principal René Münnich.

“Podium placings always were our goal and still are. We are just happy that we achieved that for the first time now and showed our potential. This is a really important success for us. “

Marc Basseng brought home the #38 SEAT Leon 11th and 17th in Hungary after a testing qualifying session.

“These are the moments our whole team is working for all the time – before, in between and during the races. They are the best pay for all the effort,” he said about Huff’s victory.

“Altogether we still have to work on our performance in Qualifying and on the further development of the setup for our three cars. That way we are able to hold third position in the team rankings and bring our drivers as far as possible to the top of the driver’s standings. We can now build on the win in Hungary,” he concluded.
