Adam Morgan continued his fine start to the 2013 British Touring Car Championship as the Ciceley Racing driver brought home the #33 Toyota Avensis home inside the top five in all three races at Donington Park.
“I’m absolutely delighted with how everything has gone this weekend,” explains Morgan. “To come to Donington Park and be so competitive has taken me by surprise.”
After his strong start to the season at Brands Hatch, the 2011 Ginetta GT Supercup Champion secured a top six start between the two MG’s of Jason Plato and Sam Tordoff.
The opening race of the weekend saw Morgan bring the car home fifth after a race long battle with fellow Toyota runner Frank Wrathall and Tordoff and he set a new lap record in the process – his first fastest lap in the BTCC.
With an additional 9kilos of ballast on board for the second race, Morgan was able to stay on the coat tails of the leaders to secure another top five finish and this left him sixth on the grid for the final race after the top ten runners were reversed.
He was looking set for his maiden top three finish during the early stages of the final race before losing out to the works Honda duo of Shedden and Neal and eventually secured his third top five finish of the weekend and sixth in the Championship.
“To come away from here with three top five finishes and sixth position in the championship standings is unbelievable. I’d just like to say a huge thank you to the Ciceley Racing and our sponsor Ciceley Commercials LTD. Everyone has done a fantastic job,” a delighted Morgan added.
