2012 World Touring Car Championship Champion Rob Huff will line up 7th and 4th in the ALL-INKL.com Münnich Motorsport SEAT Leon after a frustrating qualifying session.
Huff, who secured the first ever win on the streets of Marrakech in 2009 wasn’t sure of what he could achieve after the two free practice sessions.
The biggest challenge came in qualifying as a number of drivers hit the walls around the Circuit Moulay El Hassan and this meant that Huff was never able to get a clear qualifying run.
The Brit was able to secure his appearance in the second part of qualifying as he set the 11th fastest time in the #1 SEAT Leon, and was on course to set the 4th fastest time of the session before another yellow flag meant that he had to back off.
In the 15 minute second part of qualifying, Huff immediately bettered his Q1 time on his first flying lap and at the flag; he had set a time fast enough for 7th in race one and 4th in race 2, as the top 10 drivers after Q2 are reversed.
Looking ahead to rounds 3 and 4 of the season, Huff is optimistic about his chances come race day: “We have put ourselves in a position as planned to have a great chance of a result tomorrow, the car has a long way to go before it can be truly competitive against the Honda’s and Chevrolet’s but the team have done a great job and worked very professionally to put us where we are.”
