BMW DTM drivers Augusto Farfus and Martin Tomczyk will double up to compete in the 2013 Nürburgring 24 hours – despite the event taking place on the same weekend as the Brands Hatch DTM round.
The BMW Team RBM and RMG drivers will compete in the legendary race around the Nordschleife in the Eiffel Mountains for BMW Team Schubert at the wheel of a BMW Z4 GT3.
The logistics have been made possible thanks to support from BMW and the German motorsport federation, the Deutscher Motor Sport Bund (DMSB).
With the famous race taking place on a Sunday and a Monday this year, the two drivers will complete all of their driving duties at the DTM as normal. Then, following the conclusion of the Brands Hatch race, they will be taken to the Nürburgring Nordschleife some 485 km away to complete driving duties.
Farfus will share the wheel with fellow touring car legends Dirk Müller, Jorg Müller and Uwe Alzen, whilst Tomczyk will share his car with fellow Germans Claudia Hürtgen, Dirk Adorf and Jens Klingmann.
“Our line-up at the 41st running of this classic is in keeping with the level of esteem with which we hold the race,” said BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt of the decision to run his current DTM drivers. “BMW Team Schubert is lining up with drivers who have already proven on more than one occasion that they have what it takes to succeed on the Nordschleife.”
