Three drivers have been penalised after incidents in qualifying for the World Touring Car Championship at Monza – Aleksei Dudukalo for hitting team-mate James Thompson, Gabriele Tarquini for hitting René Münnich and Jean-Phillipe Dayraut for not stopping at scrutineering.
Honda’s Gabriele Tarquini received a 5-place grid penalty for contact with Rene Munnich in Q1. As a result the Italian drops from fifth to tenth on the grid for race one. His grid position for race two is unaffected, leaving him to start in sixth.
Aleksei Dudukalo was also dropped five grid positions for the first race due to his collision with LADA team-mate James Thompson. This drops him from 16th 21st on the grid for the opening race.
The incident between Rob Huff and Fredy Barth, in which Huff drove into the back of Barth in Q1, was deemed a racing incident and no further action was taken by the stewards.
WTCC débutant Jean-Philippe Dayraut was also called before the stewards due to not stopping at the scrutineering lights in Q1. As a result all of his qualifying times prior to 15:26 were dropped.
