Andrew Jordan and the Pirtek Racing team head into the Northamptonshire double header looking to continue their charge towards the 2012 British Touring Car Championship Independents’ crown.
Trips to Rockingham and then Silverstone make up six of the nine races in the 30 race season to go, Jordan is 40 points off Championship leader Matt Neal in the works Honda Civic while sitting just four points off Jason Plato in the battle for third overall..
In the Independents’, Jordan has a 34 point advantage over the WSR run eBay Motors BMW of Rob Collard while in the Independents’ Teams’ Championship, Pirtek Racing are within seven points of top spot.
Jordan, who secured his only win of the 2012 season to date at Snetterton, believes that the Rockingham circuit should suit the strengths of the NGTC Honda Civic and that they will be right in the mix if the turbo boost goes their way this weekend.
“The infield section at Rockingham should suit us with the longer corners where our grip and handling will serve us well,” said Andrew. “I think we’ll be pretty strong there and, if we get a bit of help with the turbo boost figures, we could be very strong.”
After his maiden podium finish at Knockhill 4 weeks ago, Jeff Smith in the sister Pirtek Racing Honda Civic will also be looking for a strong weekend as he chases a top ten Championship finish.
