The Motorbase Performance-run Redstone Racing team unveiled their new NGTC-spec British Touring Car Championship car in the Snetterton pitlane this morning – a brand new 2012 Ford Focus.
The team have thus far only completed the build of one of the cars, which will be raced by championship contender Mat Jackson. Árón Smith, the only other Focus driver this weekend, will continue to race the older-spec S2000 chassis.
It is the first time that Motorbase, who have been competing in the BTCC since 2006, have built their own car for the series. Previously the team have competed in a second-hand ex-Team Dynamics Honda, ex-SEAT Sport SEATs, BMW Motorsport BMWs and ex-Arena Motorsport Ford machinery.
Mat Jackson completed the car’s first trouble-free run in free practice this morning, lapping 16th fastest.
