Redstone Racing’s Liam Griffin will miss this weekend’s Snetterton rounds of the British Touring Car Championship – citing business commitments as his reason for not making the event.
It means that the Motorbase Performance team will field just two of their Ford Focus ST’s at the Norfolk venue this weekend – with regular drivers Mat Jackson and Árón Smith at the wheels.
“Unfortunately, due to unavoidable work and family commitments, I’ll be taking a short sabbatical from the BTCC,” said Griffin to the series’ official website. “All being well, I hope to be back on track before the end of the season.”
Griffin, 38, has taken a best finish of eighth so far in the 2012 BTCC and is currently 19th in the overall championship standings. It is not yet known if Griffin will be missing more than one BTCC weekend, with Knockhill following just two weeks after this weekend’s meeting.
