Frenchman Yvan Muller was once again the man to beat in second practice for the World Touring Car Championship in Brazil, with the order remaining the same as in the earlier first practice session.

Muller set the fastest lap early on in the session and was thereafter not headed, with the order remaining Muller fastest from team-mates Rob Huff and Alain Menu throughout the thirty minute session. Lap times were slower in the second practice session by around half a second.
Lukoil’s Gabriele Tarquini was once again fourth fastest, 0.823 seconds off Muller’s pace. Tiago Monteiro improved from 14th fastest in the first session to go fifth fastest in the second session. Indeed Monteiro was one of only four drivers to improve their times in second practice from first practice, the others being Tom Boardman, Tom Chilton and Fernando Monje.
The two bamboo engineering cars of Alex MacDowall and Michel Nykjær were next up in sixth and seventh, whilst Tom Boardman improved from 18th in the first session of the day to go eighth fastest in the second session.
Dutchman Tom Coronel ended the session in ninth and as the top BMW driver, whilst Tom Chilton posted a lap 1.451 seconds off Muller’s pace to make it into the top ten for Team Aon.
Norbert Michelisz was 11th fastest, heading a quartet of four BMW drivers of himself, Mehdi Bennani, Franz Engstler and Alberto Cerqui who were all within two tenths of each other. Engstler was able to complete 17 laps in second practice after engine issues in first practice prevented him from completing any laps.
