The AmDTuning.com outfit secured a trio of top 15 results during rounds 10, 11 and 12 of the 2012 British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park.
Resuming after a six week break, the team arrived in Cheshire eager to benefit from changes made to the Volkswagen Golf during the break.
The second free practice session saw Ollie Jackson end up in the barrier at Cascades after the #48 car suffered brake issues. He was out for qualifying and finished the session with the 20th fastest time.
Jackson was able to stay out of trouble during the opening race and brought the car home 11th overall, despite a misfire as the race progressed.
Round 11 saw the Attleborough-based driver bring the turbocharged VW Golf 15th after an unscheduled pitstop due to grass in the radiator after an off track moment as well as a damaged engine mount.
The final race of the weekend saw Jackson encounter the misfire which he suffered in the opening encounter, and he dropped off the lead lap due to pitting. Once back on track, he was caught up in an incident at the Island Hairpin.
He brought home the car 15th to complete a hat-trick of points finishes for the West Thurrock-based squad.
“In a word, I’d say it’s been tragic,” he reflected. “It really did turn into a weekend to forget. I have to hold my hands up a bit and admit I could have done better, but we’ve also had a number of issues that we have had to deal with. It’s a shame that the car was faultless in the recent test and then wasn’t when we arrived at Oulton Park but we’ll move onwards and upwards next time out.
“The potential is there in the Golf and I have to thank the team for doing a great job as I didn’t make it easy for them with the incident on Saturday. I’m sure our luck will turn soon.”
Team boss Shaun Hollamby is looking ahead to the fifth weekend of the season at Croft after the frustrations of the Oulton Park race day.
“The positive is that the change to the suspension has improved the handling of the car and we found a brake issue that we have worked on,” Hollamby added. “Ollie did a good job but unfortunately we had a misfire on race day that we need to look at and the higher temperatures today have also shown us some things on the data that we will investigate and improve for Croft. Despite all that, we’ve scored points in all three races and eleventh is our second best result of the year, so we still have something to show for the weekend.”
