James Nash heads into the second half of the 2012 World Touring Car Championship believing that the team are on course to achieve their aims for the season.
Nash, racing a Team Aon Ford Focus in the WTCC has scored twelve Championship points in the opening twelve races including the best qualifying result for the team and for Ford in the WTCC (Fourth in Slovakia) plus the car manufacturers’ best result to date (Sixth in Marrakech).
Heading to Portugal and the Portimao circuit, Nash is struggling to believe that half of the 2012 calendar has been completed.
“It is a bit surreal to think that we’ve reached the halfway part of the season already,” explained Nash. “I’m looking forward to driving in Portugal. We’re making steady progress with the development of the Focus and I hope that the Portimao circuit will suit the car and allow us to demonstrate just how far we’ve come with it.”
“When we set out in March to the first round at Monza we said that this season would be a learning exercise as we developed the new car,” Nash continued. “We also said that we hoped by the final round in November to be regularly featuring in the top ten. I don’t think we’re too far off doing that now so I’d say we are well on course.”
After the Austrian weekend, where Nash secured a double top ten finish, he has been raising money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance, and Nash promotes the EAAA on his race overalls.
To help raise funds for the EAAA, Nash and Bedford-based Ford dealer Evans Halshaw hosted a Film, Question and Answer evening which saw well attended.
“I’d also like to say a special thank you to the many people who turned up for the East Anglian Air Ambulance evening we held last week and also to those who joined us on twitter too. I’m not sure yet quite how much money we did raise but whatever the final total is, every donation counts and is very much appreciated,” concluded the #14 Ford Focus driver.
