Farfus, who completed the most laps during the session with 29 tours, was on top throughout the majority of the session. Once again it was a particularly close session and the top 21 drivers were covered by less than seven tenths of a second, with only David Coulthard more than a second off the pace. The Scot, however, experienced problems during the session and only completed 7 laps.
Third fastest was Martin Tomczyk, who had gone quickest in yesterday’s first practice session. At his ‘home’ circuit Gary Paffett set the fourth fastest time.
Three Audi’s from three different teams were up next, with Miguel Molina fifth quickest ahead of Timo Scheider and Edoardo Mortara.
Jamie Green, eighth fastest, was the second quickest Mercedes driver, still within two tenths of the fastest time. Mike Rockenfeller and Adrien Tambay completed the top ten in their Audi’s, ensuring that all except two Audi’s were inside the top ten – a stark contrast to Friday when only Ekström was able to lap inside the top ten.
Brands Hatch DTM qualifying takes place at 1240 GMT (1340 Berlin time).
