After the Safety Car start, Pole sitter Mat Jackson opened up an immediate advantage at the wheel of the Redstone Racing Ford Focus while the NGTC car of Shedden started to look to climb the field.
Shedden’s team-mate at Honda Yuasa Racing Team, Matt Neal was also looking to climb the field and as he moved into eighth, Shedden was moving into the podium positions as he took the position from the MG of Jason Plato.
At the end of the same lap, Shedden was up into second as he took the position from Team ES Racing driver Dave Newsham. The Scotsman then set about chasing down the Redstone Racing Ford of Jackson.
Plato was on the tail of Newsham for the final podium position and the 2010 Champion took third from the Vauxhall Vectra of Newsham at the end of seventh lap.
Shedden by half distance had caught Jackson but the 2008 series runner up defended his position on the run up to the Club Chicane but Shedden was not to be denied and he took the lead from Jackson up at the Complex the following lap.
Once in the lead, Shedden pulled away from the pack while Plato was on a charge and caught Jackson with three laps to go, and moved past the Ford at the Complex.
Neal in the second Honda caught Newsham and took the position away from the 2010 Clio Cup Champion and set about catching the Dynojet car of Frank Wrathall, who was on the case of Jackson for the final podium position.
Jackson held off Wrathall for third and the Independents’ victory while Shedden wrapped up his third victory of the season ahead of Plato.
Neal and Newsham rounded out the top six while the top ten was completed by Rob Collard, Aron Smith, Tony Gilham and Andrew Jordan.
Murray Walker completed the reverse grid draw and drew number nine, which put Gilham in the Team Hard. Honda Civic on Pole Position.
The results have seen Plato extend his Championship advantage over new second place driver Shedden while Jackson has moved up to third in the standings.
