James Nash given 10-place grid penalty

Team Aon’s James Nash has been given a ten place grid penalty for tomorrow’s two World Touring Car Championship races, after his car failed the mandatory ride-height checks at the end of qualifying.

Nash had originally qualified in fourth for the first race at the Slovakiaring, which would also have seen him start from seventh for the second race due to the WTCC’s reverse grid rules.

The move now means that Nash will start from 14th for both of tomorrow’s races.

The news will be bittersweet for Team Aon, for the move promotes their second driver Tom Chilton into pole position for the second race on Sunday. Chilton had originally qualified in 11th for both races. Nash’s penalty now means that he will start race one from tenth and race two from pole position.
