Alain Menu was fastest in the second World Touring Car Championship practice session at Monza, with Gabriele Tarquini once again second fastest.
Menu set his fastest lap of 1:58.645 early in the session and remained on top throughout. However Tarquini was once again the only driver to come close to the top, albeit 0.562 seconds slower than Menu. SEAT have been strong through the speed traps this weekend and Tarquini has frequently topped the speed trap figures.
Third fastest was the pace setter from earlier this morning Rob Huff. Pepe Oriola was fourth quickest thanks to a strong lap in the closing seconds of the session. The young Spaniard has been going strong this weekend and has been inside the top ten during both practice sessions.
Yvan Muller was fifth fastest, 0.666 seconds slower than Menu. Another strong performance came from Aleksei Dudukalo, who had a good lap late in the session to end up sixth fastest.
The top driver making his début this weekend in FP2 was Alex MacDowall, who once again showed the potential of his bamboo engineering Chevrolet Cruze. However Alberto Cerqui was just behind him in eighth – the Italian going faster than his much more experienced team-mate Tom Coronel.
Norbert Michelisz, Tom Coronel and James Nash were next up in 9th, 10th and 11th and were the only other drivers to lap below 2 minutes.
The yellow flags were called upon only once during the session when rookie Andrea Barlesi beeched his SEAT León in the gravel at the Parabolica.
