Honda confirms Yuasa for 2012 BTCC

Honda Racing Team have today confirmed that Yuasa, World leaders in battery design and manufacture have signed up for a third season of being a key sponsor for the reigning Champions.

Yuasa have already played a key role in developing the Honda Civic which the team took to Championship success in 2010 and 2011 and they are looking forward to working alongside the team for a third campaign, when the 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship campaign gets underway at Brands Hatch, Kent over the 31 March/1 April.

Andrew Taylor, Yuasa Batteries UK Managing Director said about today’s announcement: “It’s been a remarkably strong partnership which has given Yuasa the perfect springboard for its ambitious UK and European aftermarket plans over the next three years. With a brand new car and exciting rule changes for 2012, we expect a season of very close racing with Matt and Gordon taking on all-comers in the title fight.”

The teams’ new NGTC Honda Civic challenger is currently being built at the teams’ Pershore base and the whole project is well underway thanks to Honda’s Swindon based engineering team, as Honda Racing Team Manager, Peter Crolla explains: “Honda’s engineers and everyone at the Swindon car plant have been 100 per cent behind the build, giving us support at every critical phase. We are certainly in a good place compared to previous build programmes at this point. We can’t wait to start racing.”

“We’ve developed a strong relationship with the Yuasa team and we’re looking forward to building on the championship success of 2011, with the continuity and experience of Yuasa, Team Dynamics, Matt and Gordon. I have every confidence we will have a great season with some extremely close racing ahead,” added Dave Hodgetts, Managing Director for Honda (UK).

Brands Hatch in Kent will be the scene for the opening round of the 2012 BTCC over the 31 March/1 April while the official BTCC Media Day will take place at Silverstone, Northamptonshire on 19 March.
