Frenchman Yvan Muller continued to set the pace in free practice for the World Touring Car Championship in Valencia.
Muller, who had also topped the times in the first session, went just over a tenth of a second slower than the early morning pace to post a time of 1 minute 43.050 seconds.
All three works Chevrolet drivers continued to lock out the top three positions, with Alain Menu once again following up as the second fastest. However Rob Huff was a close third – just 0.021 seconds slower than Menu, although there is a gulf between them and Muller in first.
Improving on his position in the first session was Tiago Monteiro in fourth. The driver making the biggest improvement of the session went to SUNRED Spaniard Pepe Oriola, who was fifth fastest in front of his home crowd.
Another significant improvement came from Kristian Poulsen who, after setting 17th in the first practice session, was able to find more time and lap as the sixth fastest driver during the second session.
Gabriele Tarquini was seventh fastest – although the Italian was notably eight tenths slower than he had gone earlier in the morning. Also dropping down the order was Tom Coronel who was eighth – almost 1 and a half seconds slower than he went earlier on.
Aleksei Dudukalo and Yukinori Taniguchi rounded out the top ten fastest drivers of the morning.
After problems earlier on in the first practice session Darryl O’Young was able to get some running in during the second session, with the bamboo engineering driver 16th fastest.
An early red flag during the session came when Italian Independent Fabio Fabiani made substantial contact with the barriers.
There were also troubles for Robert Dahlgren – after only completing 5 laps in the first practice session the Swede only managed 4 laps in the second – with his Volvo spending much of the time in the pits being looked at by the Polestar Mechanics.
Qualifying takes place just after lunchtime at 1330 GMT (1430 local time) and is broadcast on Eurosport 2.
