Rob Austin Racing have confirmed the first of their drivers for the forthcoming season as David Pinkney. The deal means that Pinkney will be in his fourth different car and team within the past five years as he prepares to join the field in a new NGTC Audi A4 this season.
Commenting on the deal, Rob Austin said: “This is a great step for us, we needed an experienced driver and I am sure that Dave’s expertise will help us sort the new car and get us to the front of the pack.”
Pinkney, who will once again add a touch of pink to the car livery, added: “I have been in talks with Rob Austin Racing for a while now and I’m very excited to be on board with the Audi project. I think we have the right package to be running at the sharp end of the grid and I can’t wait to get into the season.”
The teams cars are currently nearing completion at GPR Motorsport’s workshop and the first car should be ready in time for the BTCC media day on the 24th March at Silverstone. Whilst Pinkney’s car has been confirmed to be incorporating some pink into it, the team’s official colour scheme is likely to mirror that of the official Audi Sport colours of silver and red.
