Gordon Shedden was the fastest driver in the second free practice session at Donington Park ahead of this afternoon’s qualifying session. Shedden set a time more than two tenths of a second quicker than second-placed Jason Plato, who had topped the morning’s opening session.

Tom Onslow-Cole was third fastest, improving by eight tenths of a second and 9 places from the morning’s session. Indeed the pace of the session was some half a second faster than this morning as the circuit is rubbered in and warms up in the gentle sunshine.
Matt Neal was once again the fourth fastest driver ahead of Tom Chilton and Alex MacDowall. The 3 teams registered in the constructor’s championship – Chevrolet, Honda and Team Aon – occupied the top six positions – showing how the continued development of their chassis’ is paying dividends late in the season.
Andrew Jordan was the seventh fastest driver at his local track, with the two Airwaves BMW cars of Steven Kane and Mat Jackson next up in eighth and ninth.
Rounding out the top ten was James Nash in his Triple Eight Race Engineering Vauxhall Vectra.
James Kaye, 13th, showed improved pace in the second session – improving on his time in the morning by a tenth to take the fight for best Honda Integra driver to Paul O’Neill, who was only three tenths quicker in 12th.
Further down the order Shaun Hollamby was able to complete just six laps after his Volkswagen blew a manifold gasket, whilst Rob Collard only manage five laps and therefore the slowest time of all before pulling into the pits reporting handling problems on his BMW.
Martin Depper, who blew an engine in the opening free practice session, will take no further part in the weekend’s action as his team do not have a spare unit to fit in the car.
