Experienced touring car racer James Kaye will race in the BTCC for the final two meetings of the season after announcing a surprise return to the series.
Kaye, who last raced in the series in 2006, will race under the ‘WRC Developments with Barwell Motorsport’ name in a BTC-spec Honda Integra. Kaye is the owner of the WRC developments company and has raced under the name in earlier this year in GT racing.
Kaye was a regular in the BTCC in the 90’s, making his debut in 1992. He raced briefly as a factory driver during the 1995 season for Honda and has since been involved in the BTCC during the early part of the decade. In 2000 and 2001 he raced for the Barwell team in the production class of the championship before moving up to the faster machinery a couple of years later.
Between 2003 and 2006 he raced an independent Honda Civic Type-R for Synchro Motorsport, meaning that Kaye should be able to get to grips with the newer Honda Integra with relative ease.
Barwell Motorsport make their return to the BTCC, having last raced in the championship in 2003. More recently they have been involved in various GT championships.
