The BTCC has today announced its 10-meeting calendar for the 2011 season. The season is set to once again begin at Brands Hatch in Kent on the weekend of the 2nd of April.
The venue for the season finale has also changed to Silverstone for the first time since 2006.
Series bosses have opted to stick with the tried-and-tested format of three races per weekend over ten meetings during the course of the year, and next year’s season is set to finish one week later than this year’s.
Commeting on the calendar, series boss Alan Gow said: “Thanks to all our circuits and the British Automobile Racing Club for enabling us to be so ahead of the game in informing our competitors, partners, the media and public of next year’s BTCC calendar.
“By doing so, we also hope other high-profile motor sporting events can plan around these dates and hopefully avoid some of the ridiculous clashes that in recent years have proven to be highly frustrating for both fans and organising clubs, whose resources have been stretched to breaking point.”
Whilst the calendar has now been announced, on the same day as the Formula One calendar, the specific versions of each circuit have not yet been announced. As in recent years the calendar will also incorporate a long mid-season break between the Croft and Snetterton meetings.
