Current BTCC driver Tom Boardman will race in next weekend’s World Touring Car Championship races at Brands Hatch. It will be the 26-year-old’s first race of the season in the WTCC after he competed for the whole of the 2009 season.
Boardman is set to race a SUNRED engineering SEAT Leon alongside current drivers Michel Nykjær and Fredy Barth. Whilst Nykjær and Barth will race their turbo diesel models, Boardman will remain in a petrol powered car.
Currently 11th in the BTCC standings, Boardman temporarily rejoins the team that he raced for in the WTCC in 2009 and briefly in 2008. He becomes the third additional driver since the previous meeting at Portimao, with Brazilian touring car ace Carlos Bueno joining Chevrolet in a fourth Cruze and Swedish star Robert Dahlgren once again making an appearance in an STCC-spec Volvo C30.
Reigining British Touring Car Champion Colin Turkington will be making his second appearance of the season at Brands Hatch.
